Tina Amirshahi

Biography

Tina is a Toronto based artist and a graduate of OCADU's Fine Arts program.  After obtaining her BFA, she began volunteer teaching and was shortly thereafter working as an art mentor and instructor for not-for-profit organizations such as DiscoverAbility Inc., bringing her knowledge and enthusiasm for fine arts to hundreds of children and youth across Toronto.  For over a decade she has been working in art education at the Art Gallery of Ontario.

In her own discipline she primarily works with acrylics and collage and has recently been including oil pastels in her work as well.  She allows natural creativity to persist on her blank canvas and what exercises her creativity most, is the play with color and texture.  The dedication to sustain and preserve innocence and naivete of shapes and lines is an integral part of her artistic mind to remain malleable and evolve.
